About The Jewelry
FAQ
How is it made?
All of my jewelry is made the same way. The image is printed then glued to cardstock which is then layered for thickness. It is layered one piece at a time then dried and cut out before layering again. Once the desired thickness is achieved, it is fashioned into charms, pins, etc. and dipped in melted down UTEE.
What is UTEE?
Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel (UTEE) is a powder mostly used by soccer mom's to decorate the scrapbooks of their massive breeding results. I have found a much more sinister use for it ^_^
Where did you learn to do this?
This is a technique I invented myself. After a year of so of doing Altered Books I happened upon the layering technique while trying to add dimension to my images. I later discovered UTEE whilst wandering around the craft store. As far as I know I'm the only person who does works in this medium in this way. If you know of or see anyone else who has perfected this, please let me know, I would love to talk with them!
What about the Ribbon Roses?
This was something I had seen done a million times on craft shows, etc. and just decided to give it a try myself. It worked out so here it is!
Do you do wholesale orders?
I do! If you email me I will send you information on prices. Before you contact me, you should know that in order to get discounted wholesale prices you must order AT LEAST 10 of the EXACT same items. Also, shipping prices will be different, especially for international orders.
About Me
My name is Paige. I am 33 years old and live in Forsyth, GA. I'm married to my artist, Chris and have one son, Lanz, my artist in training. We currently have 4 cats (Lucy, Salem, Gabby and Elsie) all rescued from what was probably certain death.
Although there wasn't a lot of art in my house growing up, I come from very artistic people. My brother graduated from The Art Institute Of Atlanta with a degree in Graphic Design. My Grandfather was a painter, woodworking genius, computer tech (before PC techs were cool, lol),and basically a genius at anything he tried to do. One Grandmother was always cross-stitching and working in altered art, she's also the one who taught me to sew. My other Grandmother was a Floral Arranger by trade.
About Chris
Chris and I are pretty much the exact same age, exactly one month apart. We went to High School together although we didn't really know each other. All I knew of him was that he skipped school A LOT and spent most of his time at school drawing. He has been drawing for most of his life.
About Justin
My art seems limited to the horror genre, but that's not true. I've got a wide range of ideas, and ways to do my art, however my clientele as well as myself love horror so that's what I do. Keeping it semi cartoony but also scary. Like I said though, I'm not limited I just do what the people want..a demon can be changed into an angel in a matter of minutes. I have a reputation of working closely with my clients to make sure each project is unique to their requests, as well as keeping my prices low and affordable for the "underground" person. Prices have changed tons of times, but I've found my happy medium that keeps myself and clients happy. Coming from a deep punk back ground I know that I can't surivive on doing work for free, but don't want to over charge for something. So I keep my rates the lowest in the graphic art business.
I've been doing designs for Handmade Horrors for I think 3 years now..possibly more I don't know it's been a while though. I can't exactly how we got connected but I found Paige some how, and we instantly started working together but we've had great success and developed an amazing relationship with both Paige and her husband Chris. Paige, Chris and myself work together in harmony to bring great, and unique products to each person that comes to HmH for something spectacular. Handmade Horrors and ZMB Graphics are a partnership that can not be beat.
Thanks to everyone for the support and for helping us in the underground world make a name for ourselves.
